More felting and battoning. Last night there was a power cut so as well as having half a roof, there was no heating either. The temperature in the kitchen was 4.9 deg C. Had to get  the wood burner going. Burnt up some rafter offcuts while eating and listening to Radio 4 in the dark.

Steel 1

Saturday 17th December 2011

After a week of stormy weather, a clear blue sky. I’ve even got washing on the line today.

The first of the three steel beams (steel #1) is in position now. Brought in through the front door and manoevured out through a small hole in the tiles. William must have been pleased when this went in as he sent a picture to my phone when it was in position.

Internal work 1

22 November 2011

I came home today to find that this internal wall between the kitchen and lounge had been knocked down and some acro props inserted. A pier needs to be built at the intersection of the walls to support one end of a steel beam. The beam will extend to the left of the picture as far as the external wall.
