Stud work

Friday 31st December 2012 / 15:52

Using a laser to plot where the stud work will go next.

Garage modification 10

Sun, 21 Aug 2011 / 12:21

The internal wall which used to  separate the main part of the garage from the wood sheds at the end has been removed and I’ve put  a square window in. This job involved the removal of loads of wood-wormy old wood, spiders webs, dust and other detritus.

Conservatory 6

Last remnants of conservatorySun, 21 Aug 2011 / 12:30

Just over a year after the old conservatory was dismantled, the last remnants of it are finally sawn up for fire wood. Bits of the old roof have been used for the overflow wood shed which contains the wood removed from the end of the garage. The roof of the conservatory protected some firewood from the rain over  the winter.

Internal work 4

Saturday 17th December 2011

This bird came to light when the ceiling was being removed. Looks slightly the worse for wear.

7 Central heating

Saturday 2nd November 2013 / 13:11

Boiler mounting plate on wall.

Plumbing

Wednesday 24th October 2012 / 21:39

Mains water feed to kitchen and up into the loft and hot water back down again. Temporary push fit plastic pipes are connected to link up to the sink for the time being.

Lights

Friday 21st September 2012 / 14:57

I’ve been and bought some fluorescent lights to put up while I’m working in here. They really light the place up well. Eventually they’ll go into the loft.

Floor

Sunday 30th September 2012 / 14:25

Wooden support blocks in position.

5 Plastering

Tuesday 3rd September 2013 / 0907

First coat going on.

Kitchen walls

Friday 4th May 2012 / 11:43

Nick’s helping this morning.

Plasterboarding 4

Saturday 1 June 2013 / 18:25

Working around windows and doors.

Electrics 4

Friday 10 May 2013 / 15:35

Many cables.

7 Blockwork

Sunday 5th April 2015 / 19:05

Up to the top now.

7 Bathroom 4

Friday, 20 March 2015 / 18:35

The last tile. Tiling is madness. Grouting with epoxy grout is awful: it goes off faster than you can use it and it’s terrible stuff to clean off anything it gets onto. This bathroom has consumed £275 worth of grout! There are still some bits I’ll finish off with normal grout.

Concrete

Sunday 18th March 2012 / 18:00

The hole was filled with concrete a few days ago and has now set. The surface has an almost glassy character.

7 Bathroom 3

Saturday 22nd November 2014 / 14:32

Two weeks on, and I’ve decided to move the valve over a little, which has meant removing some woodwork and re-doing the pipework.

Roof 3

Wednesday 8th February 2012 / 22:52

Opening for loft hatch.

6 Bathroom

Monday 10 February 2014 / 20:16

The new bath with its amazing taps or ‘bath filler’ is installed. The plumbing now extends to where the shower is going to be. Just don’t turn those taps on yet. It’s not as comfortable or deep as the old bath because the bottom is too flat, but it’s probably more thermally efficient (or inefficient which would be better) and looks very nice.

Stud work

Saturday 5th January 2012 / 16:42

All studs and noggins in now.
